Home Design Process
Follow along below as we explain every step of the Custom Home Design Process. We are eager to design your home today!
STEP 1
Review project site. The first step in designing a home is to review the proposed property in which you intend to build. We assess all aspects of the property including site access, utilities, setbacks and easements. We also take into consideration any design restrictions such as your local Home Owner’s Association.
STEP 2
Review client “needs” and “wants” and make the perfect wish list. The second step in designing a home is to determine the purpose and functionality of the space. This involves considering the needs and lifestyle of the occupants, as well as any specific requirements for the home such as accessibility features or sustainable design elements.
STEP 4
Design Review Meeting. As the home plans begin to take shape so will the construction documents for the project. This includes floor plans as well as elevations of the home. Desert Sage Drafting will continue to modify the plan until it is the perfect plan through a series of design reviews.
STEP 3
Start designing. The first designs will be of just the floor plan and space planning where the major elements of the house are located. Subsequent meetings will continue to develop your perfect plan. Guaranteed!
STEP 5
Construction Drawings. This step is when the designing is done and Desert Sage Drafting puts together the complete set of working drawings for your project. This includes the plot plan, floor plans, dimension plans, elevations, framing plans, foundation plan, electrical plans and sheer wall. It can also include all project specific details and cross sections as needed for the permitting process.
